Yes, I know. Pretty much the same video, but thought the clapping for himself was kind of cute. :)
And just so you know we don't generally keep our kitchen in that state. That's Daniel's safe area where he's allowed to play with things on the shelf, which he had previously pulled everything off of. ;)

Pudgy sleepy head
Someone took a great 2 hour nap this morning so Mommy could clean and do the laundry!

Day 8 - PU/PD 10 minutes in
Yes, I know, enough of these vocal recordings says everyone but Aunty Cecily. But he was funny tonight. This was AFTER about 10 minutes of off and on whining and crying. Then at 35 seconds it takes a change of tune. :)
20 minutes. No pick ups. Less shushing. (and a couple of funny periods of chatting to himself and grumbling)

Day 7 - PU/PD - Still grumbling :)
Trying not to laugh at his grumbling and whining. Especially since as he's grumbling he's playing his new pacifier game. Daniel has found that if he drops his pacifier at just the right angle it'll fall out of the crib between the bars and sit on the top of the pillow below, where he can reach and retrieve it. Which is repeated and repeated and repeated...until he gets really mad and then he throws the pacifier in my direction so that I have to get it. ;)
Day 7 - 20 minutes, but still much less crying. Still no pick ups since Day 1. :)
(drat - just listened to the video - i missed his actual vocal grumbling at the beginning - was funny) ;)

Do you see what I see?
Hard to see. But we've got our fist little hand print on the wall. (probably tongue prints around it too - as someone's favorite past time is to lick the walls, windows and refrigerator)

Nap time
Yes. My little boy fell asleep today with his foot on my ribcage.
I gave in for this
nap. Bad, I know, but we have a birthday party to go to in 1 hour and we needed
someone to take a nap before we left. No time for 40 minute crib put
down!

Operation PU/PD - Day 4
32 Minutes - ZERO pick ups. Less crying, more whining. An unhappy camper, grumbled his way to sleep, but slept through the night nonetheless!
Crossing our fingers. Day 5 is supposed to bring regression. And napping in bed tomorrow won't help. ;)

Operation PU/PD - Day 3
40 minutes - ZERO pick-ups!!!
Not as much crying. LOTS of grumbling. Lots of soothing and reassuring, but not as much as last night. Improvement!
Yay Daniel!

Operation PU/PD - Day 2
35 Minutes - ZERO Pick ups!!!
I won't hold my breath for tomorrow though. He was really tired tonight.
But no pick ups! Just lots and lots and lots (over 30) of going over to soothe and quite him. But YAY for Day 2! And it would have been even faster except for a long case of the hiccups right at the end that kept him from falling asleep. :)

Operation PU/PD
Operation Pick-up/Put-down is now in effect.
Aunty Cecily is gone. Daniel doesn't have a cold (although is teething). Ryan doesn't have a cold and we are as well rested as we're going to be.
Tonight we began to reteach Daniel to sleep in his crib in the nursery.
As the 'Cry it out' Ferber method didn't prove too successful for either me or Daniel, we are trying the 'somewhat' gentler approach. The 'no cry' Pick-up/Put-down method. The theory being you can soothe and pick him up, but have to put him right back down in his crib.
Much easier on Mommy's heart. No desperate tears and wailing. Though yes, quite a bit of grumbly and frustrated crying every time he was put back and not given his way.
BUT it was only 40 minutes. 40 minutes and 48 pick ups. (at 32 my back started to hurt)
I'm anticipating a longer struggle tomorrow, and apparently this can take up to 3 weeks all told, but I think (says Mommy on night one - before the mid-night episode) this I can handle. (Well emotionally - we'll see about my back)
Sorry Daniel, we've loved cuddling and sleeping with you, but it's back to the crib you go. :)
