Progress & my sister...
Hmm....turns out I have a surprising limited amount of pictures from the past week. ;) This dratted cold I got, and pure fatigue probably play a big roll in not picking up a camera... but here's a few of our recent happenings...

PROGRESS!!!
In the past 3 weeks...after about 127 hours...putty up, sanded down, plaster up, sanded down, dry wall compound up, sanded down, walls torn down, walls put up, piping torn out, piping put in...we're finally making PROGRESS!!!!
Thanks HUGELY to our family who have doubly tripled (whats the word for six times?) the work Rye and I could do.
Haven't updated too much recently. (mostly due to exhaustion) but here are some recent pictures...
kitchen walls went back up
not a very work productive picture, but you have to eat sometime, right?
MULTIPLE trips to the paint store
(this is now almost a daily occurance and once we FINALLY decided on our color we had to decide on FINISH?! and then once we decided on finish we had to decide on GRADE?! oh, the decisions NEVER end! thankfully i had some handy e-mails from Guru Todd to rely on)
more wiping (ceilings this time)
and FINALLY priming!!!!

We're beginning to paint!!! Oh at long last! And now there's REAL progress!! Hallelujah! We might make this March 5th move date after all. Keeping our fingers crossed!
Time to get some shut eye. Can barely move my fingers to type. :)

family
First and foremost...before I post anything else...
I want to say how much I unequivocally love and really appreciate family...
...and there are no words to explain how much.

forward and back
It's been a week and weekend of big steps forward and big steps back. :)
...and standing still...still working on colors:
our current color pallet to choose from
Multiple steps forward, a few big steps back...but lots of progress in making our house a home.
It's all about the journey and I'm enjoying the trip.
Love,
stace

working the walls....
and so the past few days have been ALL about the walls...
after the 4 phases of wiping...comes the mud stuff (like my technical term?)
then you sand...
then you mud again...
and sand somemore...
it's been a super productive past 4 days though...and boy are they looking smooth! No more dents, dings or any lines! Oh! and I got to use my first use of a power tool!

then you sand...then you mud again...
and sand somemore...and then you mud again (no joke, this is what we'll be doing tomorrow)...followed by more sanding. the pictures will probably be quite repetitive at that point and we're expecting to pull late nights to get the mudding thingy done... so probably no posts for a couple days.

whew.
exhausted. this must be what training for a marathon is like. you just keep going. then you don't want to move. but you do it again the next day. and the next day. and the next. and you're sort of having fun, but you're just plain EXHAUSTED.
all i can say is thank HEAVENS for Uncle Al and Aunty Pat (who came to our rescue AGAIN today).
too tired to post pics. needless to say LOTS got done. will try to post tomorrow. (after more marathon training at the Kanehone house)
still having fun though,
stace ;)

reinforcements!
We had a surprisingly productive AND pleasant day today which even ended having eaten dinner and on our way back through the tunnel by 8:30!! (course then instead of going home we ended up going to Home Depot but....)
Here's why:

Dad too!
Here's why:
Dad too!
Meaning we essentially TRIPLED our time. We heart heart triple heart Aunty Pat and Uncle Al...and love love LOVE that not only did they help us at the house, but picked up a yummy Japanese dinner (mmm...misoyaki butterfish and chicken teriyaki) so we were on our way back home happy, content and satisfied with a good solid days work...which is why we decided to go to Home Depot. (can't waste time right?)

after Aunty Pat's diplomatic, "hmm...so that's the color you guys are choosing?" and Uncle Al's more straight-forward, "we'll help if we get a vote on what colors you choose." (and Dad's just plain laughter) hee hee...it's back to the drawing board with more paint samples! Thank heavens for Home Depot. (and Aunty Pat and Uncle Al)
So appreciative of my family,

wiping walls
never thought i'd trade the Punahou Carnival for wiping walls, but that's what we did tonight. (and will do tomorrow) :) and i was actually okay with it.
worked on the Kaneohe House for 5 hours tonight. Getting home after 10 = exhausted Stacy, but big steps and it's looking better!
well maybe not in this picture...

quadruple wiped the walls. first with bleach, then with water, then with tsp then with water again. holey schmoley. they look much better though, and according to ryan it's the first step to painting to make sure no mildew.

then a couple of paint samples...
(hee hee...none of which worked)
my malasada break was really yummy...
note the paint samples in the kitchen as well...
and last thing for the night double checking our floors. (whew! we love them. one more thing down for sure!)
(please note how much better and brighter the walls look, apparently wiping them down 4 times does make a difference! Unfortunately we think the color is too dark, we're thinking 2 shades lighter. Guru Todd, this is Spanish Moss right now. Feel free to e-mail advice) :)
Hitting cabinet stores bright and early in the morning, so time to get some shut-eye.
Boy the excitement just doesn't end,
Tim & Al

tired...
tired...but good tired.
as usual our schedule did not go according to plan. ;)
first there were termites:
then there was cabinet issues...which led us from Kaneohe to Home Depot at 8:00 last night...
hee hee...Ryan thrilled to find himself at our favorite store again. (actually we don't mind a bit, he just thinks he's funny)
and then again tonight instead of being at the house sanding, patching and cleaning, we were at Lowes until 8:30. :)
oh the joy! will have to put our cleaning on hold for just a little more. we need to get our cabinet situation solved by Saturday as all Hawaii orders take 4-6 weeks to make a deliver. :)
going with the flow of cabinetry,
stacy
