We knew that with becoming parents comes all of the love, fear, anxiety, responsibility and this huge massive need to keep your babies safe from harm and hurt...as well as huge hurdles along the way.
What we didn't expect is to find ourselves rushing to the hospital after only 5 days of being parents and 1.5 days after being able to return home.
Andrew at our first pediatric appointment had lost a few ounces, which although the norm, was suddenly unable to regulate his temperature up and it had dropped to 96 degrees. We rushed to Kapiolani, and a very scared Mommy and Daddy began their first real initiation into parenthood.
Despite tears (on Mommy's part when they couldn't find Andrew's vein to draw blood and kept poking and prodding and digging the needle around his little arm while he screamed) and a very scary few hours when Andrew got lethargic and his blood pressure dropped. All came out well in the end, and we've never been so grateful to hear our crying baby again and see his inquisitive eyes open.
While at the hospital, Andrew got a good does of the Billi lights to help his jaundice, and our wonderful pediatrician convinced the nurses to let us 'throw in' Daniel as well. Rye and I are convinced that Daniel helped soothe Andrew and also perk him up a bit...and caught this precious moment where they appeared to be holding hands...
