April 5th - brief recap

The day started like any other...aside for a little tummy ache that hadn't subsided from the day before. My contractions weren't any better or worst then what we'd had for the last 2 months, but after calling the Dr. to ask about my abdominal pain we decided to go to the hospital to monitor the babies just to be safe. (not unusual as we've done this twice a week for the past month) Upon arrival and being hooked up to monitors the nurses (who had become my friends after seeing them so often) decided enough was enough and convinced my Dr. it was a slow day, my contractions were adequate and it was time to deliver.

my big belly hooked up to the monitors

At 11:30 we got the final word that the Dr agreed "today was going to be the day". The boys apparently had decided to choose their own day after all, didn't want to go with the schedule...and appropriately decided to come out exactly 16 years to the day after their Mommy and Daddy had their first kiss...and within a short 2 hours...they were here.

Andrew - 1:28 pm, 6 lbs 3 oz

Daniel - 1:29 pm, 6 lbs 8 oz

Love love love this picture of the proud new Papa. :) Couldn't not put it in.

Hmm...and actually I stand corrected - just went through our hospital pics for the first time. THIS is our first family picture. Not quite as sweet...hee hee...and a little more 'real'.

Poor Daniel was born covered in that v-word I can never remembered, but is basically like thick cottage cheese that usually sheds around week 36. Ryan and my theory is that because he was such a sedate little baby in my belly it just never shed, unlike Andrew who was non stop movement and came out nice and clean.
